Since we started a few years ago, we’ve grown a lot. So to keep growing, we’ve become an ASBL/VZW (non-profit organisation).
What does this mean?
To improve the functioning of our club and community, we’ve introduced ways of funding our activities (details in ‘Frequently asked questions‘ below). One of these is offering paid annual memberships in 2025.
Memberships work with a ‘pay-what-you-can’ system – you decide how much you can contribute.
All members enjoy the same benefits, regardless of how much they pay.

Frequently asked questions
I haven’t joined a CCC activity yet, do I have to become a member immediately?
Non-members can join one activity (ride or workshop) for free before we ask them to become a member.
What will membership fees be used for?
Below are some of the items that fees will contribute to:
- Existing administrative costs: website domain and management, newsletter tool, ASBL administration (lawyer, accountant)
- Ride leader insurance and training (coming soon)
- Renting workshop/special event spaces (coming soon)
- Hiring experts for workshops and other learning opportunities
- Material for organising rides/workshops (ex: first aid kits)
How long are memberships valid?
Memberships are valid for one calendar year (January – December). Memberships purchased in December are valid for the following year (e.g. purchased in December 2025, valid for January – December 2026).
Memberships must be renewed by end of January each year to remain an active member. Members will receive a reminder to renew at the end of each year.
Why do I need insurance?
It is important to have cycling insurance that protects you, covering personal liability and medical costs in the event of any issue.
Anyone joining any Casual Cycling Club (CCC) activities must protect themselves and agree to our Community Terms & Values.
Each member is responsible for themselves and their insurance coverage, and CCC cannot be held liable.
Which insurance do you suggest?
We suggest Cycling Vlaanderen’s recreational license for year-round coverage and assistance, you can find more information on their website.
Pro-tips:
- You can likely get the total amount reimbursed by your mutualité/health insurance. After registering you can download the required form directly in the member portal.
- As the website is only in Flemish/Dutch you can use Google Chrome’s webpage translation option (or Google Translate/Deepl) to better understand the details.
- If you choose “Casual Cycling Club” as your club, you’ll receive a small discount on your annual policy (an individual policy will be 33€ instead of 40€).
What if I have a different kind of insurance?
If you already another insurance (not Cycling Vlaanderen/FCWB), please double-check that it meets the following requirements and send us proof of coverage (a screenshot or email): personal accident insurance, civil liability, legal assistance, and explicit coverage for recreational cycling (a general civil liability policy is usually not sufficient).
Please send us an email explaining which insurance and confirm the coverage. CCC is not responsible for verifying that your insurance meets the necessary requirements and cannot be held liable for any surrounding issues.
